John Savignano, Chief Executive Officer at Savignano of Queens, LLC, has a successful career that started in 1989, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. John, who grew up in Brooklyn and graduated from St. Francis College with a degree in accounting, had his fair share of setbacks along the way. He was laid off from his first job after 9/11 and did stints as an accountant at several different firms before landing at Savignano of Queens LLC five years ago where he is now CEO.

John said he tries to bring a human element into the accounting business. “It’s all about relationships and whether clients feel that they can trust us is what keeps them coming back,” he said. “If they don’t feel that trust, then there’s no point in them opening up their books to us because we won’t be able to help them as much as we want to. We try real hard to make sure our clients feel comfortable with us and with the numbers that we report back.”
In addition to personal attention, John also feels it is important for his staff to develop a strong network within their community. “That’s what I try to focus on as an organization,” he said. “We have a good staff, but we also have good relationships with our clients, and they in turn are able to give us referrals because they know that our staff is loyal and reliable.”
John Savignano is a member of the CPA Board of Trustees where he serves on the Audit Quality committee. He also serves as treasurer for the New York CPA Society and is on the board of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. He is also a councilperson for Queens Community Board 3 and works for ACME Federal Credit Union. In his spare time he enjoys playing tennis, fishing and reading about political issues.
