How Steve Hutensky Shifted from his Legal Career to a Career in Film Production

Steve Hutensky is a film consultant, producer, chief operating officer, and co-founder of Made-Up Stories. This production company amplifies unforgettable, distinct, and diverse human experiences while championing females. Hutensky had a legal career before venturing into the film industry and has a law degree from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College. Hutensky has served in legal and business affairs while focusing on senior and creative positions before settling into the film industry.

Hutensky started his career at Miramax Films as an executive who served as the chairman’s principal advisor and ran the legal affairs and business department for the label during its hay days in succession. Hutensky stopped working at Miramax Films and formed Walk the Walk Entertainment in 2004, where he served as the president. He then moved to Relativity Media in 2009, overseeing legal and business aspects such as development, production, acquisitions, distribution, and financing.

Steve Hutensky has produced the film Penguin Bloom through Made Up Stories which is premiering on Netflix, and in January 2021, he produced The Dry, which broke Australian box office records. Further, he was the director and producer of The Nightingale film, which won the Special Jury Prize in Venice and six AACTA Awards in 2019.

Steve Hutensky is involved in various production stages, including as an executive producer in various films such as; Pieces of Her, the Netflix Thriller Nine Perfect Strangers, a limited series, Anatomy of a Scandal, a Netflix film, Roar for Apple Tv, Wolf Like Me for Peacock and Queen America for Facebook in 2018.

Hutensky is the producer for Wake Up, a spiritual documentary that was the premier episode on Super Soul Sunday, an Oprah Winfrey Network, and had a successful national screening tour.
